The first common guideline of the Czech association of Dietitians concerning nutritional care in geriatrics - is multidisciplinary approach necessary?

Nutrition is a significant factor in geriatric patients that affecting both positively and negative health and functional status in old age. With global increase in the number of elders, gerontology and geriatrics is coming to the front. Nutritional care in an area where geriatrics patients are one of the most vulnerable population groups for the risk of malnutrition and others nutritional disorders. Czech Association of Dietitians – newly formed czech professional orga- nization for nutrition care initiated creation of the first common guideline in cooperation with the Czech Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics CMS JEP and other medical standardization companiesand improving care of geriatric patients. Full version of this first standard called General Principles of Nutritional care is an attachment of this article.
