Overview
The article introduces narrative perspective, as well as the main assumptions of this perspective in both humanities and social sciences. After that, it focuses on ubiquitus elements of narrative in medicine. The article emphasizes the usefulness of metaphor of both story and narrative for our understanding of an individual´s subjective experience of health and illness. Basic narrative interactions and methods of application of the narrative perspective in both medical knowledge and clinical practice are discussed.
