Overview

Infectious endocarditis is a serious disease with an unfavourable prognosis if it is not diagnosed in time and intensively treated. The incidence of infectious endocarditis is currently the same as a few decades ago, however, the spectrum of pathogens and risk factors has changed. In our report we describe the development of infectious endocarditis of the aortal valve in two patients who had come into contact with flood water in 2002.

Key words:
endocarditis, aortic valve, flood.
