Overview

Psychosomatic dermatology is an essential consequence of remarkable discoveries at the molecular level, which transpose the original ideas of Hippocrates and Laufberger into chemical formulas. Thus, there arrises the necessity that each diagnosis be made on the basis of a holistic consideration, and that requires a substantial broadening of knowledge and at the same time also a conceptual unification in all disciplines. An example of such a holistic consideration and also of a psychosomatic disorder, is the atopic diathesis in which there is predominant a disorder in the antigen presenting function of dendritic cells of all sort, as well as a profound disorder of homeostasis in the epidermal barrier. The connection of these disorders with neurotransmitters discovered only recently.

Key words:
atopic dermatitis – homeostasis – neuropepties – neurotransmitters.
