Contemporary View on the Meloxicam Treatment of Rheumatic DiseasesNonsteroidal antiinflamatory drugs represent one of widely used group of drugs. Meloxicam isrelatively new non steroidal antiinflamatory drug approved for the treatment of rheumaticdiseases. Meloxicam has been shown to be COX-2 preferential, particularly at lowest therapeuticdoses. In clinical trials of meloxicam in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis it was foundto be as effective as piroxicam, diclofenac and naproxen with less gastrointestinal symptomsand less perforations, obstructions and bleedings.
