Overview

We report a case of 9.5-year-old boy with isolated GH deficiency and osteogenesis imperfecta type IV. The basis for prevention of pathological fractures in patients with this „brittle bone disease“ is the therapy with antiresorptive drugs – bisphosphonates. Experimental therapy of osteogenesis imperfecta is based on treatment with growth hormone because of its osteoanabolic effect. Due to combination of his two major diagnoses, we start simultaneous treatment with intravenous pamidronate and rHuGH (recombinant growth hormone).

Key words:
osteogenesis imperfecta, growth hormone deficiency, bisphosphonates, recombinant growth hormone
