Commentary to the Guidelines of The European Dermatology Forum on the Systemic Treatment of Psoriasis Vulgaris

Overview

Progress in the research of the pathogenesis of psoriasis lead, in last years, to increased number of psoriasis patients treated systemically. Arrival of new therapeutic approaches, especially biologicals, brought the necessity to establish criteria for the treatment of severe psoriasis. Guidelines for the treament of psoriasis in individual countries were mostly based on guidelines published by big national dermatologic societies – German, British, American and Canadian. The expert group of the European Dermatology Forum (EDF) with intention to offer updated and unified guidelines on the highest transnational level elaborated “S3 – the guidelines on the systemic treatment of psoriasis”. The EDF recommendations are considered to be the source of modification of national guidelines. That is why the article comprises some practical remarks to this material from the view of one of the biological centres for psoriasis treatment in the Czech Republic.
