Overview

A successful treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is based on early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of disease activity. Ultrasonography is a modern method which facilitates detection of structural involvement and inflammatory activity with a higher sensitivity than physical examination and skiagraphy. This review presents a basic introduction to past and present options of the use of ultrasonography in healthcare for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Key words:
ultrasonography, clinical remission, rheumatoid arthritis
