Overview

Objective:
The introduction of the guidelines of treatment of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) into the clinical praxis.

Methods:
The procedures were elaborated on the basis of meta-analysis of published trials engaging in this tissue and based on results authors’ randomised prospective study.

Results:
The guidelines for treatment of ICP introduce the assessment of serum values of bile acids in diagnostics as the most important indicator of foetal hazard. They introduce the ursodeoxycholic acid as the standard in the treatment of ICP. The concentration of moderate and severe cases into the perinatology centres is recommended. In general, the termination of pregnancy after reaching the safety maturity of the fetus is recomanded.
