Patients are admitted to intensive care on the basis of clinical indications. Variability in the availability of specialised care or the lack of beds in intensive care may necessitate care at another healthcare facility. The article discusses patients’ inter-hospital transfers from the point of view of patients’ and healthcare providers’ rights.
